We are the majority, and we cannot stay silent. Over the past year, the Trump administration has been stripping science for parts, just as they are eroding the democratic norms that make science, research, and inquiry possible. There is no life-as-usual, or science-as-usual under these conditions. Join with us on March 7th and rally to Take Back Our Science!

We’re also mobilizing because attacks on diversity, equity, inclusion, and access are attacks on science, and vice versa. Science is at its best when it includes everyone and when it stands to improve people’s lives.

It’s time–as ever–to stand up for science, for everyone who does it, and for everyone who benefits from it.

A core principle behind this rally is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

Red “Melt the ICE” hats take their inspiration from Norway where a red tasseled hat called a nisselue in Norwegian, was considered a sign of patriotism and protest against Nazi occupation during World War II.

The red hat campaign was started by knitters at a Minneapolis-area shop, Needle & Skein. The campaign is collecting proceeds from the sale of the red hat pattern for two immigrant aid organizations focused on the Minneapolis area: STEP (St. Louis Park Emergency Program)and the Immigrant Rapid Response Fund.

In a social media post, Chicago shop Knit 1 said it will be partnering with local organizations to distribute its donated red hats in Chicago.

Participate in group stitch at Knit 1, 3856 N. Lincoln Ave, Chicago, on Friday, Feb. 13, from 12-5 pm CST.

How to oppose the federal school voucher program

Contact federal officials: Use online platforms to write to both US Senators and local US Representatives, urging them to oppose federal voucher legislation, particularly if included in tax reconciliation bills.

• Engage with state leadership: Call Gov. Pritzker’s officeto demand that Illinois does not opt-in to federal voucher programs.

• Submit official comments: Submit comments to the IRS opposing the implementation of the National School Voucher Program (specifically regarding Notice 2025-70) to ensure high standards for Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs) and to advocate for public funds to support public education.

• Join local advocacy campaigns: Partner with organizations such as Illinois Families for Public Schools, the Illinois Federation of Teachers, and the League of Women Voters of Illinois to join campaigns, sign petitions, and stay informed on, Public Funds Public Schools.

The Illinois Accountability Commission, housed within the Illinois Department of Human Rights, was formed by executive order in October 2025 to create a public record of federal agents during “Operation Midway Blitz” and the Trump Administration’s military-style operations throughout the Chicago area.

What kind of information should be shared with IAC?

The IAC is collecting information about misconduct that falls within its mandate, meaning that the misconduct:

• Was perpetrated by federal immigration law enforcement agents, such as agents who work for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or Customs and Border Protection (CBP); and

• Occurred in Illinois during Operation Midway Blitz from September 2025 through the end of 2025.

• Please focus on events that happened to you or that you witnessed first-hand.

Submit your report to the Commission.

Join Indivisible Chicago for an evening of fun, socializing and resistance singing! We are trying out some songs we might sing at upcoming events and want your feedback. What songs are the most inspiring, uplifting, meaningful or just fun? We want everyone, especially folks who don’t sing regularly. Join us at 6 pm for drinks and socializing; the sing-along program starts at 7 pm.

Tracking America’s decline in social connections

This Emmy-nominated feature documentary follows the half-century story of America’s civic unraveling through the journey of legendary social scientist Robert Putnam. Putnam’s groundbreaking “Bowling Alone” research into America’s decline in community connections could hold the answers to our democracy’s present crisis.

Join or Die includes interviews with Priya Parker, Pete Buttigieg, Vivek Murthy and Hillary Clinton, among other well-known public figures, as well as inspiring groups building community in neighborhoods across the country.

The Sultzer screening of Join or Die is hosted by the Heart of Lincoln Square Neighbors Association and the Greater Rockwell Organization.

RSVPS are strongly encouraged, as space is limited. Donations will support local food pantry The Friendship Center.

Renee Nicole Good’s tragic death this week was not an isolated incident; over the past year federal agents have shot numerous people — two in Portland just yesterday. Thirty-two have died in ICE custody. Many, many more have had their lives shattered by detention, family separation, and deportation.

We need more defiance at the state and local level. We need to target ICE’s funding at the federal level. And right now, we need to be in the streets shining a light on ICE’s pattern of unchecked violence, raising our voices to demand: ICE OUT FOR GOOD.

That’s why Indivisible and a broad coalition of partners are banding together for the nationwide ICE Out For Good Weekend of Action this Saturday and Sunday. We hope you’ll join us.
