At its July 9 meeting, the ILS steering committee approved new guidelines for endorsing candidates (as a supplement to our existing endorsement policy). These can be found here. For the upcoming November election there are not many races where an ILS endorsement would be requested by a candidate—perhaps in one of the school board elections—so this new process can be tried out without much pressure! We need a 3-4 person short-term working group tasked with implementing the guidelines prior to the November election and working out any kinks that might arise. A draft of Chicago’s “Green Infrastructure Strategy” for 2026 is now open for comment. Share your questions, comments, or ideas to help build a more resilient, sustainable city for everyone. Submit your feedback here by July 10, 2026. At a minimum, and if you like the strategy, you can just say, “I am in full agreement with the Green Infrastructure Strategy, and I urge the city to move forward with this as soon as possible.” For additional information and link to the complete draft, see here.

All you need is your phone and a computer (laptop or desktop, not a tablet). Training is offered at every phonebank on Google Meet, and we provide the script!

Since 2021, Heart of Lincoln Square (HOLS) conducted two highly successful volunteer campaigns to inform neighbors about the threat of Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) and give them an opportunity to save the street ash trees on our public parkways by donating to treat them to prevent infestation leading to their death.

Current science shows that the trees should be treated every three years to prevent EAB infestation.

More than thirty volunteers drove from Chicago to Benton Harbor in the rain on Saturday, June 14, under the auspices of Indivisible Chicago. After the weather cleared, volunteers knocked on more than 1,200 doors and continued to have amazing conversations with voters. See under “Events” to sign up for future canvasses!
